What does this have to do with Road Traffic Safety?
Road traffic injuries are the leading cause of death among people aged between 15 and 29 years.
Working on awareness and sensitization of young is therefore an important task if we were to achieve our goal of reducing road traffic injuries by 50% in 2020.
To do that, engaging youth through sports has been proven an effective tool to promote the awareness messages in question. The chief finding of the United Nations Inter-Agency Task Force on Sport for Development and Peace is that well-designed sport-based initiatives are practical and cost-effective tools to achieve objectives in development and peace. Sport is a powerful vehicle that should be increasingly considered by the United Nations as complementary to existing activities.
At the Nada Foundation, we have therefore partnered with Flying Disc Invasion, to make the sport of Ultimate Frisbee the messenger sport spreading the awareness messages about road traffic safety to youth around Egypt.
